Together with CBA Architecture, we had the opportunity to develop the competition entry and contribute our expertise in the field of green roofs.
The vacant building is thus transformed into an open and vibrant urban building block. As the green crown of this transformation, a lush green landscape on the roof surrounds the modular box apartments. The roof garden combines three qualities: to the south-west, it opens up as a window onto the city, offering views of the Marktkirche and the skyline – a place where conversations flourish and sunsets become a ritual. To the north-east, denser planting and grating walkways above the vegetation invite you to pause and reflect, bringing the cycle of rainwater to life. At the heart of the project, the community space connects both worlds – flexible, open and inviting to share. First prize was awarded to the architectural practice Herzog & de Meuron.
