OUR SERVICESDetailed design for green facades and irrigation systems, Project Phase 5

In the middle of Wiesbaden's city center, the old “Citypassage” shopping area will be given a new lease of life by 2026 with a green quarter called “Mauritius Höfe”. This will not only offer visitors a wide variety of shopping opportunities, but will also open up a successful mix of shopping, living, working and leisure space and a green oasis.

In order to give the Mauritius Höfe a natural and urban character that invites people to linger longer and feel at ease, extensive exterior greenery has been planned for the buildings and roofs as a major stylistic element. This will contribute to the visual attractiveness of the neighborhood, but thanks to the many potential benefits of green roofs (→ read more) it will also make an important contribution to regulating the microclimate, promoting biodiversity, and improving the living and working environment.

CityArc was responsible for the implementation planning for the facade greening and the irrigation technology for building sections A and E.

Building A will be designed with checkerboard-like greenery on the facades to the south, east and south-east. This will give the building a dynamic and lively appearance and allow it to appear in different colors depending on the season.

In order to enable rapid greening, pre-cultivated, wall-mounted plant modules - known as living walls - will be attached to the external facades. This solution offers the advantage that the building, which will house a hotel in the future, will be seen in its final and impressive effect in a very short time.

In component E, the large firewall facing the courtyard interior will be fitted with a broad green living wall. This will be attached to the terrace on the 2nd floor and act as a major eye-catcher for visitors to the quarter.

The extensive integration of plants within the passage will also provide visitors with a pleasant and cool microclimate thanks to the shade and evaporation effect. The noise level within the passage can also be positively regulated by the sound-absorbing effect of the plants, which will enable relaxed working and living in the upper parts of the buildings.
