With the completion of the new KVWL multi-storey parking lot last year, a pioneering concept for sustainable urban design was realized in Dortmund: An open parking building surrounded by vertically and diagonally arranged wooden slats as a design element, behind which climbing plants grow up on trellises and form an interesting, green and lively fa\u00e7ade between the wooden elements.<\/p>

SHA Scheffler Helbich Architekten GmbH was responsible for planning the innovative architecture, while CityArc was responsible for the specialist planning of the fa\u00e7ade and roof greening and its irrigation. The company Boymann GmbH & Co. KG was responsible for the professional implementation of the building greenery.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

A variety of climbing plants and shrubs were used for the greenery, which not only enhance the architecture of the parking garage, but also make a significant contribution to improving the building's climate.
The plants were placed in troughs between the concrete and steel structure and the wooden cladding around the building. As a result, the troughs remain inconspicuous on the outside and the focus in the perception of the fa\u00e7ade is on the shoots and leaves that grow up and through behind the wooden beams.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The open design ensures permanent air circulation inside the building. The plants that surround the building help to improve the air quality thanks to their physiological functions and also ensure that the building is cooled on hot days through shading and evaporation.<\/p>

From an aesthetic point of view, the plant green in contrast to the cold steel of the building's substructure and the warm wood color on the outside provides a unifying and harmonizing colour contrast. At the same time, it reflects the green of the KVWL company logo in a natural way, which is displayed representatively on the exterior of the building and thus creates a successful connection between the basic architecture and the brand color. This very successful architecture transforms a \u201csimple functional building\u201d of a parking garage into an interesting and enriching object of the surrounding space.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

An intelligent water management system ensures sustainable and efficient irrigation. A rainwater cistern with an integrated warning system for heavy rainfall events optimally regulates water storage so that the plants are always supplied with sufficient water and nutrients via an automatic fertilizer system. A special feature of this project was the use of an innovative vegetation system that works with hydroponic plant troughs. The plants are placed individually in the system in growing pots. This has the advantage that the weight of the troughs can be reduced and the cross-section of the trough can be reduced. It also makes it easier to replace the plants during maintenance.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

KVWL Parkhaus Dortmund AUFTRAGGEBERKassen\u00e4rztliche Vereinigung Westfalen-LippeORTDortmundARCHITEKTURSHA Scheffler Helbich Architekten GmbHFERTIGSTELLUNG2024UNSERE LEISTUNGPlanung Fassadenbegr\u00fcnung, LPH 2-6, Planung Dachbegr\u00fcnung, Bew\u00e4sserungsplanung, LPH 2\/3\/5\/6 Mit der Fertigstellung des neuen KVWL-Parkhauses wurde im letzten Jahr in Dortmund ein zukunftsweisendes Konzept f\u00fcr nachhaltige Stadtgestaltung realisiert: Ein offenes Parkgeb\u00e4ude, das von vertikal und schr\u00e4g angeordneten Holzlamellen als gestalterisches Element umgeben wird, hinter denen Kletterpflanzen an Rankgittern emporwachsen und zwischen den Holzelementen eine interessante, gr\u00fcne und lebendige Fassade bilden. Die Planung der innovativen Architektur wurde von SHA Scheffler Helbich Architekten GmbH \u00fcbernommen, die Fachplanung der Fassaden- und Dachbegr\u00fcnung sowie deren Bew\u00e4sserung wurde von CityArc geleistet. Die Firma Boymann GmbH & Co. KG sorgte f\u00fcr die fachgerechte Umsetzung der Geb\u00e4udebegr\u00fcnung. F\u00fcr die Begr\u00fcnung kamen eine Vielzahl an Kletterpflanzen und Stauden zum Einsatz, die nicht nur die Architektur des Parkhauses aufwerten, sondern auch zus\u00e4tzlich einen bedeutenden Beitrag zur Verbesserung des Geb\u00e4udeklimas leisten. Die Pflanzen wurden in Tr\u00f6gen zwischen der Beton- und Stahlkonstruktion und der Holzverkleidung rund um das Geb\u00e4ude platziert. Dadurch bleiben die Tr\u00f6ge im Au\u00dfen unauff\u00e4llig und der Fokus in der Wahrnehmung der Fassade liegt auf den Trieben und Bl\u00e4ttern, die hinter den Holzbalken empor und hindurchwachsen. Durch die offen gehaltene Bauweise wird eine dauerhafte Luftzirkulation im Inneren des Geb\u00e4udes gew\u00e4hrleistet. Die Pflanzen, welche das Geb\u00e4ude ringsherum umgeben, unterst\u00fctzen dank Ihrer physiologischen Funktionen die Verbesserung der Luftqualit\u00e4t und sorgen zus\u00e4tzlich an hei\u00dfen Tagen durch Verschattung und Verdunstungsleistung f\u00fcr eine K\u00fchlung des Geb\u00e4udes. Aus \u00c4sthetischer Sicht bietet das Pflanzengr\u00fcn im Kontrast zum kalten Stahl der Geb\u00e4udeunterkonstruktion und der warmen Holzfarbe im Au\u00dfen einen verbindenden und harmonisierender Farbkontrast. Gleichzeitig spiegelt es das Gr\u00fcn des Firmenlogos der KVWL auf nat\u00fcrliche Weise wider, das sich repr\u00e4sentativ am Geb\u00e4ude\u00e4u\u00dferen zeigt und so eine gelungene Verbindung zwischen der grundlegenden Architektur und der Markenfarbe schafft. Durch diese sehr gelungene Architektur wird ein \u201eeinfacher Zweckbau\u201c eines Parkhauses zu einem interessanten und bereichernden Objekt des umgebenden Raums. Ein intelligentes Wassermanagementsystem sorgt f\u00fcr eine nachhaltige und effiziente Bew\u00e4sserung. Eine Regenwasserzisterne mit integriertem Warnsystem f\u00fcr Starkregenereignisse reguliert die Wasserspeicherung optimal, sodass die Pflanzen stets mit ausreichend Wasser und N\u00e4hrstoffen \u00fcber eine automatische D\u00fcngeeinrichtung versorgt werden. Als Besonderheit kam bei diesem Projekt ein innovatives Vegetationssystem zum Einsatz, welches mit hydroponischen Pflanztr\u00f6gen arbeitet. Hierbei werden die Pflanzen in Kulturt\u00f6pfe einzeln in das System gesetzt. Dies hat zum Vorteil, dass das Gewicht der Tr\u00f6ge reduziert und der Querschnitt des Troges verringert werden kann. Zudem wird der eventuelle Austausch der Pflanzen innerhalb der Pflege erleichtert. Mit seiner zukunftsweisenden Fassadenbegr\u00fcnung setzt das KVWL-Parkhaus ein starkes Zeichen f\u00fcr eine nachhaltige Bauweise im urbanen Raum.
